Vaughn Arlen Wentworth

SKOWHEGAN – Vaughn Arlen Wentworth, Navy Veteran, known by all as “Sandy”, passed away on Dec. 21, 2021, at the age of 87. Sandy was the much-loved husband of Georgeanne. They met and were married in Denver, Colo. in 1958. His goal was always to move back to Maine which was accomplished in 1969. They moved to the East River Road in Skowhegan, Maine. Sandy worked for Graffmans for a couple years and then took over the service station on North Avenue until he purchased the garage on the Canaan Road and the East River Road. Sandys Garage became well known for his custom exhaust. In 1984 he decided to expand and became Sandy and Daughter, Inc. a four-bay garage with a muffler warehouse and a daughter joining the family business.Sandy retired in 1996 and began his winter search for gold in the Dome Rock mountains near Quartzsite, Ariz. Though he never found a lot of gold he found a wonderful life, friends and family all coming to play in the family gold mine, The Copper Bottom Mine. In the last few years Sandys lifestyle began to catch up and his lungs began to give out. When every breath became a monumental task, he said it was time to go and that is exactly what he did.Sandy is survived by wife of 63 years Georgeanne, daughter, Kristina McDermott and Tim, son Kurt Wentworth and Raye, Grandson Dylan Wentworth and Emily, Granddaughter Dana Tessier and Mike and Granddaughters Alyssa Therriault and Konnor and Kelsey Audie and Brian Parlin, and Grandson Ryley Corson. Sandy also got to know the great-grandchildren Laney Jane and Jack Vaughn Wentworth, William LaRoy, Michaela Raye, Trevor and Troy Tessier and his very special Angel Girl, Harper Elizabeth. Sandy is also survived by sister Dottie McMaster and brother Billy Nelson and many nieces and nephews.Rest in peace Babe.
