Walter T. Pelletier

CANAAN – Walter T. Pelletier, 82, passed away Dec. 26, 2021, at his home in Canaan surrounded by his family. He was born May 18, 1939, in Caribou, the son of Joseph and Rose (Albert) Pelletier.Walter lived a long life of love and generosity that touched every soul he met. His witty sense of humor and passion for storytelling would captivate any room. He raised his 6 children with his wife Beverly in Fairfield, ME and they settled in Canaan when their children were grown and many winters in Florida during retirement. Walter liked to stay busy. He worked as a self-employed electrician doing plumbing and heating most of his life. He also liked to stay busy working on a project at home. He could fix anything in a home, car or any of his “toys.” He loved to race Arctic Cat snowmobiles with his dear friends up north and put over 100K miles on his Harley in his 70s. including a trip from Maine to Florida at age 71 on his motorcycle. He visited 48 states over the years with one of his RVs, rode dirt bikes when he was younger, loved his Ford pickup trucks and his Mustang convertible with vanity plates “Old Papa.” He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, canoeing, and particularly loved camping with his family at Lobster Buoy and Happy Horseshoe campgrounds for decades. Walter also loved to play guitar, either alone or in a band with family or friends. Walter believed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is home in Heaven where he now joins his beloved three children, siblings and mother. He and his cross necklace were inseparable in his final year of life, even wearing it when he took his last breath here on earth. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Beverly (Kaherl) Pelletier of Canaan; children, Lynne Pelletier of Bushnell, FL, Karen Herceg and spouse Vance of Fairfield, Tim Patnaude and spouse Lisa of Sabattus; grandchildren, Thomas Pelletier and spouse Jennifer, Jennifer Brown and spouse Jeff, Michael Hopkins, Jessica Patnaude-Dyer and spouse Ben, Walter Bell and spouse Ashley Cyr, Erica Patnaude, Mikayla Maheu and David Pullen; many special great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; a lifelong special friend of 73 years, Chester Wentworth. He was predeceased by parents, Thomas Joseph and Rose (Albert) Pelletier; children, David Patnaude, Thomas Pelletier, and Lori Pelletier; two special brothers, Arthur Pelletier and Joseph PelletierA Celebration of Life service will take place Saturday, Jan. 8, 2021 at 2 p.m., at The Elm, 21 College Ave., Waterville. The family would love to see all his family and friends. Burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Fairfield in the spring.
