SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Carolyn Susan Tyks Davis of San Antonio, Texas, passed away, 79, Dec. 7, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born July 14, 1942, in Boston. She was memorialized December 22, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Carolyn was raised in Skowhegan. Following high school, Carolyn served in the army, working in a hospital in Colorado and Texas during the mid 1960’s. Following separation from the service and having had interest in the cowboy west as a child, Carolyn remained in Texas. She adopted a Texas, twang mixed with a little Maine accent that had locals wonder where she was from. Carolyn performed general labor until settling in as automotive test driver for a research firm until retirement. One day, refueling a test car, she met the station manager, Rudy Taylor Davis. They married in 1996. They were very happy until Rudy’s passing in 2004. They enjoyed cooking, regional travel and fishing together. Carolyn loved parades. She always viewed the televised holiday parades. Carolyn was a proud veteran from the Vietnam era. She supported the Wounded Warriors project among other organizations.
