CANAAN – Delma Ruth (Elton) Richard, 86, passed away Dec. 31, 2021, at her home in Canaan surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Snyder, Arkansas, the daughter of Jelks and Sabra (Cruse) Elton.She attended Saint Mary’s Catholic School in New Orleans until the 8th grade. In her younger years, she was a cashier in Westwego, La., then was employed by North East Shoe in Pittsfield through the late 1970s, SAS Shoe in the 1980s then retired to Pasadena, Texas in 2004. She was a member of the Deeper Life Assembly in Pittsfield, Church of Faith in Skowhegan, Canaan Calvary Church in Canaan. Delma loved her family, loved gatherings with friends, bowling, fishing, gardening, crocheting, reading romance/western novels, and in her younger years, dancing on the weekends with her twin sister.Delma is survived by children, Thomas Malley and wife Aggie of Florida, Colleen DeValle of Washington, Fawn Mattson and husband Russell of Newport, Patrick Malley of Canaan; grandchildren, Cherie Coriz of Waterville, Renee Starkey and partner Dale Rowe of Troy, Ken O’Conner of Montana, Jason Starkey and wife Lindsey of Waterville, Kenneda Gonzales and husband Chris of Washington, Mandy Grant and husband Matt of Canaan; twin sister, Velma Hunt of Lousianna; sister, Yolande Harris of Lousiana; brother, Lewis Lee of Lousiana.
