Do you support the creation of a consumer-owned electric utility in Maine?
Leaders at Our Power, the campaign that’s collecting signatures to get a ballot initiative on a consumer-owned utility in Maine, acknowledged that they wouldn’t be able to collect enough signatures by the Jan. 21 deadline to create that initiative in 2022. Momentum behind the initiative looked promising after the vote against the NECEC in November, but the campaign blamed a combination of winter weather, the pandemic and the millions of dollars in opposition funding from CMP’s parent company for its slow start.
