Janice S. Crockett

AUGUSTA – Janice S. Crockett, 84, of Augusta passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at Granite Hill Estates in her room at Reflections. She was born in Portland on Jan. 9, 1938. The daughter of Dorothy (Wing) and Roscoe Jones.

Janice attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School, class of 1956. She attended Westbrook Junior College earning an associate degree in Medical Lab Technology.

Janice worked as a laboratory technician at Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s General Hospital until the birth of her first child in 1963. Janice married Robert Crockett on Feb. 4, 1961 and cherished their 44 years of marriage. Together they raised a son and daughter, and Janice was very active with school activities to support her children. When the children left the house, Janice enjoyed volunteering at Kennebec Valley Medical Center and later at the Cumston Public Library, Monmouth.

Janice was a kind and gentle soul who had a warm smile and friendly word for all she met. She devoted her life to supporting and nurturing her family from the youngest to the oldest!

Janice is survived by her best friend and sister, Joan Stevenson; son, Randy Crockett and wife Kelly of Otisfield, daughter Karen Champagne and husband Mark of West Gardiner; grandchildren Ben Crockett and his partner Kara Strout, Kaitlin Crockett, Rebecca Champagne, Jessica Champagne and husband Hunter Harris, and Alissa and Sydney Gosselin.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert and her parents.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.

The family thanks MaineGeneral Hospice and special care giver Linda for their attentive and kind care of Janice. The family also thanks the entire staff at Granite Hill Estates for the respectful care of Janice and especially thanks the Reflections staff for their professional, gentle and thoughtful care.
