AUGUSTA – Priscilla Harriet Shields Redman died peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, at the age of 93 due to COVID-19 complicating Alzheimer’s disease. She was a resident at Brentwood Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Yarmouth.

Priscilla was born Oct. 20, 1928, in Dexter, the only child of Lloyd W. Shields and Gladys Jackson Shields. She was active in sports and was secretary of her senior class. After graduating, she attended Gorham State Teachers College.

On Sept. 18, 1948, she married Robert Gray Redman at Penney Memorial United Baptist Church in Augusta. They shared a wonderful life together for nearly 63 years until Bob’s death in 2011.

She was a stay-at- home mom until 1970 when she started work for the State of Maine Legislature. All who knew Priscilla, knew her love of golf. She and husband Bob were long time members of the Augusta Country Club. In retirement they traveled along the east coast playing golf at several courses as they traveled to Florida. She had the joy of shooting a hole- in-one, not once but twice, once at the Augusta Country Club and once in Edisto Island, South Carolina.

She was an active member of the Republican City Committee, Kennebec County Republican Women’s Club, Women’s Legislative Council, Society of Bowdoin College Women, the Women Association of Retirees, and the Kennebec Garden Club.
