SOLON – Neal Craig Corson, 74, of Solon, passed away on Jan. 19, 2022, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital. Neal was born on August 24, 1947, to Anson “Bus” Corson and Eileen Thomas Corson in Skowhegan.

Neal was Salutatorian of the graduating class of 1965 of Madison Memorial High School. Neal attended Bowdoin College, taking a year off to serve as the youngest state legislator in the country, having won the primary before he was old enough to vote for himself. After graduation, Neal joined the Army fulfilling ROTC requirements while at Bowdoin. Neal served as an infantry officer in the service. Once completing his service, Neal returned to Madison where he ran a successful campaign for the State Senate and joined the National Guard. Neal, in a National Guard Army Medivac helicopter, and his father in a 4-seater plane, both attended the Gadabout Gaddis Fly In in Bingham for a few years.

Neal attended the University of Maine School of Law in Portland, graduating first in his class. Neal opened a law office in Madison where he worked at Corson & Blaisdell until his retirement.

Neal married Candace Shusta on August 12, 1975.

Neal was predeceased by his parents, Anson “Bus” Corson and Eileen Thomas Corson; and his son, Mark Anthony Corson. Neal is survived by his wife, Candace Shusta Corson, his sister, Gail Corson Sprague, his sister-in-law, Antonia Shusta, brother-in-law, Timothy Shusta; nephews, Barrett Sprague and Corbin Butcher and niece, Melissa Sprague McManus; along with great nieces and nephews.

There will not be a service.
