Marvis Chambers

PITTSFIELD – Marvis Chambers, 83, died peacefully on Jan. 20, 2022, in Hartland.Marvis was born on Aug. 2, 1938, in Pittsfield, Maine, the daughter of the late Horace and Lizzie (Bubier) Bryant. She graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1956. She owned and operated several businesses: Chambers Boarding Homes, Home Town Video and Party Hut, C and J Wood Products and Construction, and The Wishing Well Take-Out. She was a terrific bookkeeper for Coles Express and Hartley’s. Her last position was being a greeter at Wal-Mart where she achieved the District Employee of the Year.Marvis was all about presentation. You wore your best and always looked your best. She owned and loved horses, and belonged to the United States Trotting Association and the Maine State Harness Racing Commission. In her younger years, she served as a den mother for Cub Scouts and her home was always open to the wayward wanderers. She enjoyed music and absolutely loved to dance. She was a member of the Peoples United Methodist Church in Newport.She is survived by her children: Robert Sedgwick, Jason Chambers, Patricia Trask (Carl), Carol Gerald, Rebecca Bagley (James), Olinda Ordway (Ricky), and Bonny Dakin (Richard); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents; three husbands: Joe Walker, Gerald Sedgwick, and Carroll Chambers; son, Reginald Chambers; brother, Richard Tibbetts; and a special friend who she considered a daughter, Barbara Erving.A memorial service will be held in the summer at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home and a party, pot luck celebration will follow at the family camp on Great Moose Pond.To leave a message of kindness or to share a memory, please visit http://www.shoreynichols.com.Care has been provided by Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, Pittsfield.
