BOWDOIN – Carole Ann Loon Payne of Bowdoin passed away on Nov. 25, 2021, at Pinnacle Nursing Home in North Berwick at the age of 79. She was born on Oct. 18, 1942 to the late Doris E. Loon (Hatch) and Alfred Loon of Monmouth.Carole attended school at Monmouth Academy.She was married in 1968 and moved to Denmark, Maine. She had a daughter, was a homemaker, and worked in the corporate offices of Carroll Reed in Conway, N.H. for a number of years. She studied to become a medical transcriptionist and enjoyed that career for many years, retiring at 70.Carole loved tending to her beautiful flowers and loved her animals and taking long walks with them, as they were family. Her yellow lab, Sadie stole her heart. She had a quick wit about her and would talk with anyone she crossed paths with. She also loved surprising her daughter, friends and neighbors with gifts she would pick up while shopping, one of her other loves.She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Payne of New Hampshire; cousins Cindie Oakes of Oklahoma, Roxanne Carr of Monmouth, David Loon of Monmouth, Christine Webb of Monmouth, Janet Greeley of Livermore Falls, Carleen Couture of Florida; and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and June Welch (cousin).Services tbd at the family lot in Ridge Cemetery in Monmouth.
