Donald F. White Sr.

AUGUSTA – Donald F. White Sr., 74, passed way Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at his home following a long illness with his family by his side. He was born in Augusta, on April 20, 1947, a son of Linwood P. and Yvonne B. (St. Hilaire) White.Mr. White attended St. Augustine School and was a 1965 graduate of Cony High School. He was a communicant of St. Augustine Catholic Church where he served as altar boy growing up, and as a Sacristan, Eucharistic Minister and Lector for many years. He was on many boards at the church including Parish Council and Chairman of the Beano Committee.Following graduation, Don entered the U.S. Army and was very proud to serve his country in Vietnam.He had been employed for over 30 years at Central Maine Power Co., and then joined the engineering group at Epro, LLC.Mr. White was a member and Past President (2010, 2011 and 2012) of the Calumet Club, member of Augusta Elks Lodge #964, Augusta Columbian Association where he was a Past President, American Legion Post #2, Veterans of Foreign Wars #887, & Enlisted Men’s Club, Maine Association of Engineers, Fraternal Order of Eagles 3137, member and Past Grand Knight of Abnaki Council #334 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus; member and Past Faithful Navigator of Abnaki Assembly # 346 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.Donald was also active in sports with his children. He enjoyed watching them play baseball, softball, basketball, and field hockey. He was an avid golfer and loved his golfing friends in Maine and Florida. He enjoyed the two winters he had in Florida and hoped to go again. Don was a baseball umpire for many years and looked forward to every game. He was also a big Red Sox and Patriots fan.He was pre-deceased by his parents, brothers Dennis and David White, and a brother-in-law, Henry Truman.Mr. White is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kitty (Truman) White of Augusta; three sons: Donald White II and wife Kathy of Augusta, Darin White and wife Sarah of Sidney, and Derek White and wife Trisha of Belgrade; his daughter, Monica Trask and husband Ryan of Augusta; 10 grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud of: Daniel, Julia, Gabrielle, Lydia, Rebekah, Jordan, Dawson, Vanessa, Ethan, and Bella; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday Feb. 3, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta where officers and members of the Calumet Club are asked to meet at 6 p.m.; and officers and members of the Augusta Elks Lodge are asked to meet at 6:30 p.m., to recite prayers for their departed member. Members of Abnaki Council K of C are asked to meet at 7 p.m., for a prayer service. Members of Abnaki Assembly # 346 4th Degree Knights of Columbus are asked to meet at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m., to prepare for the posting of the guard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday Feb. 4, at 9 a.m., at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta.
