Rebecca “Becky” S. Green

FARMINGTON – Rebecca “Becky” S. Green, 77, was reunited with her baby boy, Christopher, in heaven on Feb. 1, 2022 after a lingering illness. Born in 1947 to Everett B. and Elizabeth (Garland) Kaherl, she spent her early years in Winthrop before moving to North Vassalboro.

Becky survived the polio epidemic in the early 1950s when she was quarantined in a hospital, then to be quarantined by COVID 19 toward the end of her life in the assisted living facility.

Becky graduated from Winslow High School in 1964, where she struggled but was proud of her determination to obtain a diploma. Following high school, she joined the workforce at Ralston Purina, later Fort Halifax Packing, and stayed there until 1981 when it closed. She then went to K-Mart until retirement. When she took a job, Becky gave it her all.

She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Winslow VFW, serving in several offices, as well as the Skowhegan Eagles Auxiliary. She had a lifelong love of anything Elvis Presley and cherished her many mementos of his life. Suffering from AMD, she gradually lost her sight, but that did not dampen her spirit. She joined the Sunshine Club, a part of the Iris Network for the visually impaired, and met some wonderful people in that organization.

She is survived by her sister Beverly Pelletier of Canaan, brother Everett A. Kaherl and wife Connie Kaherl of Lisbon, brother Bruce Kaherl of Waterville, sisters Theresa Pearson and Ervine Mushero; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Becky was predeceased by her parents; and by her son, Christopher Green who died at birth; her sister Roberta Veilleux, brothers Nelson Kaherl and John Kaherl, sisters Irene Pearson, Marlene Moffat, Emma Stanley; and a nephew David Patnaude.

Summer burial in Glenside cemetery, Winthrop, is planned.

The family thanks the staff at Woodlands Memory Care, Farmington, for their care over the past three years.

Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan ME 04976.
