Carmen (Woodside) Stratton

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Carmen (Woodside) Stratton, 72, of Midlothian, Va., passed away Jan. 22, 2022 after a brief, devastating illness.

Carmen was born in Bangor, Maine on Oct. 11, 1949 and graduated from Hallowell-Farmingdale High School in 1967 and Gorham State Teachers College in 1971. She was a devoted preschool teacher for over 20 years, and her eyes always lit up when she interacted with children.

Carmen’s hobbies included cross-stitch, reading, traveling to the beach, crossword puzzles, and movies. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, and she will be sorely missed every day by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John L. Woodside. She is survived by her husband, William A. Stratton, mother, Norma C. Woodside (Grandma Maine); children, Jonathan A. Stratton (Megan) and Kimberlee Stratton Smith (Ben); siblings, J. Michael Woodside, Steven P. Woodside, Lynne C. Woodside and Scott D. Woodside; nephew Dustin M. Woodside; and six grandchildren, each who lovingly called her “Nana”, Mackenzie, Samantha, Kinlee, Jonathan, Kayslyn and Kyler.

Services, with a period of visitation an hour prior, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022 at the Chesterfield Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
