Jeannine C. Vigue

AUGUSTA – Jeannine C. Vigue, 85, formerly of Albert Avenue, died Feb. 2, 2022 at Maine Veterans Home after an extended illness.

She was born in Augusta on Nov. 11, 1936, the daughter of Gedeon Pare and Amanda (Grenier) Pare.

Jeannine was a 1955 graduate of Cony High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed for over 25 years by Central Maine Power Co. She previously worked at Chernowsky’s Department Store and Depositors Trust Co.

Jeannine was a member of St. Michael Parish at St. Augustine Church, Calumet Club, Ladies of St. Anne Society, Cushnoc Senior Citizens and CMP CAMRA.

She wintered in Florida from 1990 to 2005. Jeannine enjoyed playing the piano and square dancing with the Pine Cone Reelers. She was a member of the Millpark Petanque Club, She learned to play cornhole at the age of 80, and played everyday the weather permitted. Anyone that knew her knew she loved some good competition! She greatly enjoyed dancing whenever and wherever the music played, she was happiest on the dance floor! Another of her greatest joys was time spent with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughters.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. Vigue in 1999; and many brothers and sisters.

Surviving is a daughter, Therese A. Young and her husband Preston of Vassalboro, a son, Gerald L. True III of Gardiner; grandchildren Ryan Young and his wife Breanna, Monica Fisher and husband Michael, Samuel and Nathan True; great-grandchildren Abigail, Ava and Cora Fisher; stepson, Keith Vigue of Florida; step-grandson Derek; “sister”-in-law, Agnes Pare; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10 at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday Feb. 11 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Northern Ave., Augusta. Spring burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, Augusta.
