The editorial cartoon of Feb. 4 presented your readers with a falsehood. Yes, Republicans in a number of states are actually banning books. On the other hand, no one is banning Joe Rogan.
Rogan is being called out for conveying misinformation regarding COVID and for making blatantly racist comments. People are withdrawing their financial support, essentially expressing their disapproval of Rogan with their actions. This form of boycott is not the equivalent of banning. Rogan is still fully able to express himself, unlike the students in schools where books have actually been banned.
The cartoon is a form of lying as it presents these two things as the same when they are not.
