BRUNSWICK — Brig. Gen. Dean Preston, Maine’s land component commander, presented the Army Chief of Staff’s Supply Excellence Award (SEA) on Jan. 9 to Chief Warrant Officer 2 Peter Houghton of Greene, Sgt. 1st Class Shannon Trepanier of Sanford and Staff Sgt. Patrick Purcell of Manchester, all members of the133rd Engineer Battalion at the Brunswick Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Houghton of Greene, Trepanier of Sanford, Purcell of Manchester, former property book officer Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jennifer Paradis of Topsham, and other key logistics staff members worked tirelessly towards this recognition of having the top program in the organizational level property book officer category, according to a news release from the Maine National Guard public affairs office.

“The 133rd Engineer Battalion is proud,” said Lt. Col. Shanon Cotta, commander of the 133rd. “It is a testimony of the S-4 team’s commitment to excellence and the support of our Maine Army National Guard leaders.”

The SEA program was established in 1984 by the U.S. Army Quartermaster School to recognize supply excellence at the various unit and organizational levels. It is open to active Army, Army National Guard and Army Reserve units nationwide.

The program aims to enhance logistical readiness of all Army units, enforce supply discipline, provide a management tool to ensure system standardization, perpetuate group competition and increase public awareness of supply excellence within the U.S. Army.
