AUGUSTA – Garey “Red” Bickford was born Dec. 25, 1934, to Harry Bickford and Velma (Thomas) Bickford in Oakland. Red passed away on Feb. 12, 2022, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.

Red was passionate about the outdoors and spent much of his time outside. Red enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting, and gardening.

Red proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1952 to 1955, after which he worked in the construction field most of his life. But his pride and what he excelled at was being an incredibly loving father.

Red was an amicable mild-tempered gentle soul known to support law enforcement. Red also loved to debate and was known for articulating his points and having a great sense of humor.

Red is survived by his son Garey and his wife, Jessica; his brother Lawrence and his wife Christine, and sisters Thelma, Leatrice and her husband Roger, and his sister Charlene and her husband Paul. Red was predeceased by his parents, brothers Blynn, Thomas, Kenneth, and John and sisters Berlene, Annie and Lenora.
