PATTEN — A man died in police custody shortly after his arrest at a home in Patten, law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

The attorney general’s office is investigating the death of Jeremy Lau, 46, of Patten, as it does all deaths of people who die while in custody or in prison, officials said.

Lau died shortly after he was arrested early Tuesday by officers from the Maine State Police and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department who responded to a 911 call.

An autopsy will be conducted by the medical examiner’s office. Further details were not available.
