Waterville Area Art Society is offering a workshop, Landscape: From the Ground Up, with watercolor landscape artist Deena Ball from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at Winslow Congregational Church, 10 Lithgow St. in Winslow.

The focus of the workshop will be improving each artist’s knowledge of what elements in compositions make a landscape successful and appealing to the viewer.

Ball, now living in Maine, spent many years in Pennsylvania as an artist, where she was a signature member of both the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Watercolor Society as well as the Baltimore Watercolor Society, according to a news release from the nonprofit society. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colby College and later went to Tyler School of Art, Temple University for graduate studies.

She has taught art in a wide range of mediums, and has taught toddlers to adults, as well as people with specialized needs. She most enjoys teaching drawing and painting.

The cost is $50, and the deadline to sign up is Tuesday, March 15.

Checks can be made payable to WAAS and mailed to WAAS, P.O. Box 2703, Waterville, ME 04903-2703.
