Jack LeBlond scored on Cam Seymour’s sacrifice fly to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the 12th inning, giving Southern Maine an 8-7 baseball win over The College of New Jersey on Sunday in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Huskies trailed 3-1 before scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth. USM then gave up three runs in the 11th but rallied again in the bottom half on a two-run double by Tom Vesosky and an RBI single by Seymour.

Vesosky went 4 for 6 with four RBI. Jason Komulainen scored four runs.

MAINE SPLITS WITH NORTH DAKOTA STATE: Joe Bramanti hit a two-run homer in the first inning, Jeff Mejia went 4 for 4, and Caleb Leys and Jordan Schulefand combined on a four-hitter as Maine (3-9) won 7-0 in a doubleheader opener against North Dakota State (8-8) at Winter Haven, Florida.

Maine’s ninth-inning comeback bid fell short in Game 2, as the Bison held on for a 4-2 victory. Bramanti and Jeremiah Jenkins each had an RBI double in the ninth for the Black Bears.

SOUTHERN UTAH 6, MAINE 2: The Thunderbirds (3-17) opened with two unearned runs in the first inning and added three runs in the third as they downed the Black Bears (2-12) at St. George, Utah.

Keely Clark hit a two-run single in the fourth inning for Maine.

CARROLL 10, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: The Pioneers (4-1) started quickly with two unearned runs in the top of the first inning and pulled away from the Nor’easters (0-2) in a six-inning game at Clermont, Florida.

UNE’s Makenzy Herron scored on a bases-loaded error in the fourth inning.

USM LOSES TWICE: Skyler Stookey drove in three runs to lead Coe College (3-4) to a 7-2 win over Southern Maine in Leesburg, Florida.

Lauren Miller was the only repeat hitter for USM. Kaitlyn Nelson had an RBI single.

Later Sunday, the Huskies (0-3) lost 2-1 to Bethel (5-2). Nelson scored USM’s only run when she beat out a bunt single and then raced all the way around the bases on a throwing error.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 19, PLYMOUTH STATE 5: The Mules (2-1) opened the contest with five consecutive goal as they cruised past the Panthers (4-1) at Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Julia Jardina, Cami McDonald and Annie Eddy scored four goals apiece.

TRINITY 19, BATES 5: Lilianna Khosrowshah got six of her seven goals in the first half as the Bantams (3-0, 2-0 NESCAC) rolled out to a 14-2 lead against the Bobcats (1-3, 0-2) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Sadie O’Neal had a goal and an assist for Bates.

MEN’S LACROSSE

NORWICH 23, SOUTHERN MAINE 14: Parker Campbell had four goals and five assists, and Payden Masaracchia also scored four goals as the Cadets (4-1) beat the Huskies (1-2) in Northfield, Vermont.

Nick James led USM with nine goals and two assists.
