AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center has announced its February professionals of the month.

Chandler Bibber resides in Dresden. He is a senior at Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale enrolled for the second year in the Auto Tech program, according to a news release from the center. He has liked learning about topics pertaining to cars in today’s market. Currently, the topic is ignition coils and how to diagnose why a cylinder is not firing correctly.

Bidder recently took on a project of changing the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and valve cover on a 2009 Chevy Equinox. He achieved his goal of completing it before he left on February break. He works at Meineke and LinRic Auto Sales in Augusta.

His instructor, Keith Hart said, “Chandler knows what he wants and needs in his education and career path. But, he is also always willing to help others along the way.”

After graduation, Bibber plans to continue to work at Meineke and LinRic Auto Sales. He looks forward to developing his skills and gaining more knowledge to be better at auto repair. He also wants to increase his knowledge in working on full electric vehicles.

Hannah Torrey resides in China. She is a senior at Erskine Academy in South China and is enrolled in the Medical/Veterinarian Terminology program. She feels the program has been a challenge and tested her abilities, as well as given her insight into the medical and veterinarian fields. She has spent many hours studying the language of the medical and veterinary fields and has seen it pay off in her high grades in the program.

Her instructor, Karen Parker said, “Hannah is a conscientious, hard-working student that is motivated to learn and succeed in everything she does. She is kind, considerate, dependable and displays good citizenship by helping other students in the classroom. She has excelled in Medical/Veterinary Terminology and is at the top of her class.”

After graduation, Torrey plans to continue her education and has a goal of becoming a veterinarian.

CATC’s Alumni Spotlight shines on Brooke Whitley Warren. Ever since she can remember, she wanted to be a nurse. She enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program in 2014, which was her senior year at Cony High School in Augusta. She obtained her CNA certification, and was exposed to the medical field and had the opportunity to provide hands-on direct patient care. She loved the program, and it helped her confirm her career path.

After graduation, she attended Southern Maine Community College, graduated with an associate degree in Nursing and obtained her State of Maine Registered Nurse license. She went on to work as an RN for Northern Light Easter Maine Medical Center in Bangor on the MedSurg unit and received the Daisy Award. While working, she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Warren is a full-time Nursing professor for Eastern Maine Community College, where she teaches and prepares senior year nursing students. She is passionate about educating new nurses, and so is enrolled in University of Southern Maine’s Masters in Nursing Education Program.

Brooke said, “CATC’s immersive hands-on learning environment helped me to obtain the necessary skills needed to enter the profession of nursing. I would recommend CATC’s CNA program to anybody seeking a career in the medical field. As I was evaluating college choices, I chose a local Maine community college as their curriculum and values closely match that of the CATC program.”
