NORRIDGEWOCK — A longtime selectman has declined a write-in nomination to serve another term on the town’s Select Board.

Ron Frederick recently completed his 17th year as a member of the board and had indicated he would not seek another term.

Frederick has served the town “admirably,” Town Manager Richard LaBelle said.

“For many of his terms, he served as the board chair,” LaBelle said. “Rumor has it, that this length of service qualifies Ron as the longest-serving Select Board member in the town’s history.”

Voters wrote in Frederick to serve another term at the March 7 Town Meeting.

Because Frederick declined the additional term, the Select Board decided to move forward with a shortened nomination process to fill the vacancy. Nomination papers will be available through April 29, with an election date set for June 14.

A call to Frederick’s number went unanswered Thursday.
