I read about Gov. Janet Mills’ proposal to give a one-time $90 check to 90,000 Mainers in order to help out with high electrical bills in Maine. This is essentially giving over $8 million to the electric utility while garnering favor with hard-working Mainers. Politics.
I would expect the governor of Maine could find more substantial long-term effective proposals to help struggling people than just, as I see it, throwing candy at a parade.
