Edward L. Ketch Sr.

AUGUSTA – Edward L Ketch Sr. peacefully passed on March 8, 2022, at the Togus VA Medical Center. He was born the son of Raymond and Grace (Gratton) Ketch, now deceased of Morris Township, New Jersey.Edward was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Coast Guard in the European Theater. In 1948 he married Edith M. Gee and they were happily married for 64 years. During those years they raised three children, enjoyed traveling in their RV around the country, spending winters in Florida, and enjoyed snowmobiling with the Stump Jumpers of Belgrade. He also enjoyed times with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at their camp during the summer and on holidays at home.Edward attended Morristown Schools and Rutgers University for management and supervisory skills and all phases of industrial system. He was an Electrical Supervisor for Warner Lambert Co. (now known as Pfizer Co.). He moved to Maine in 1970 and became a construction Supervisor for the Wyandotte Co and then started his own business known as Belgrade Lakes Electric.Edward was a life member of the Coast Guard Combat Veteranā€™s Association and of the VFW Watnong Post 3401 in Morris Plains, N.J. He was also a member of the Eagles, the VFW, American Legion Post #2, the Mason Lodge #48 and the Elks Lodge #905. He was a Boy Scout in his younger years and then later became a Boy Scout Leader. He received the honor of the Scouters key for his 18 years in scouting.Edward was especially happy to be able to travel on Honor Flight New England to the World War II Memorial on Sept. 19, 2010.Edward is survived by his brother Harry Ketch and family of Morris Plains, N.J.; his daughter Audrey Fulmer of Morris Plains, N.J., and her two children, Carrie of Morris Plains, N.J., and William of Belgrade, Maine; his son Edward Ketch, Jr. and his wife Beth of Belgrade, and their children, Sarah Ketch of Oakland, Lindsey Bickford of Sidney, Paul Brann of Winthrop, and Darbi Poirier of Gardiner, Me; and daughter Karleen White and her husband, Alanson White and their two children Linda Wiles of Manchester, and Heather Feinberg of West Palm Beach, Fla. He is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son-in-law William Fulmer.At Edwardā€™s request there will be no viewing or funeral services. There will be a graveside service and family gathering at a later date.
