Gary William Pelletier

PITTSTON – Gary William Pelletier, 74, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022 at VA Togus Springs Hospice Center, Augusta. He was born in Presque Isle on Oct. 1, 1947 to parents Rita and Eugene Pelletier of Waterville, where he grew up and attended Waterville schools.

Gary served his Catholic faith community throughout his lifetime. Gary served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. After Gary was discharged from the army, he returned home to Waterville. He worked in friends’ local business for short time and then became employed by VA Togus Veterans for 30 years as Librarian technician. He received recognition and awards for his dedication as a librarian technician. He retired in 2009 and enjoyed traveling, fishing, cooking and long walks in many local scenic parks. Gary was a loyal, trustworthy friend who would help anyone for whatever reason or cause.

He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents and best friends Butch of Texas and Richard of Maine.

He is survived by his daughter Allison and grandchild of Washington; many close extended families: The Couture’s, Cormier’s and Poulin’s; several of his close work-life VA Togus friends; his long-distance childhood friendships; George his caregiver; and a special neighbor Helen Raymond.

A celebration of life for Gary will be held later in the spring at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt Vernon Ave. Augusta.

Special thanks to the VA Togus Spring hospice team. The doctors, nurses, social worker and volunteers who are the most amazing individuals with so much compassion, kindness and delivery of excellent care to Gary in his end-of-life journey. Words cannot express what this hospice team did to make the passing of our family member so peaceful. Maine General Hospital Oncology unit for all their support and care.
