Michelle (Labbe) Chaffin

RUSH SPRINGS, Okla. – Michelle (Labbe) Chaffin, 54, has joined the Heavenly Kingdom after a long, fierce battle with kidney cancer. Michelle passed on Feb. 19, 2022, at home with her family in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

Michelle leaves behind her beloved husband, Jeff Chaffin, of Rush Springs, Okla.; all of “her kids”, Ronni Roberts and her husband Mike of Wells, Maine, Chelsi Bonano and her husband Alex of Oklahoma City, Okla., Peter Porter and his girlfriend Brooke Bordofske of Broken Arrow, Okla., Ashlyn Baker and her husband John of Rush Springs, Okla., Madisyn Chaffin of Rush Springs, Okla.; her parents Stanley (Buddy) and Claire Labbe of Rush Springs, Okla.; her siblings, Scott Labbe and wife Heather of Litchfield, Maine, Nicole Labbe of Rush Springs, Okla.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved so dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Labbe.

Born in Gardner, Maine on Sept. 13, 1967, Michelle was born on to parents Stanley and Claire Labbe. She graduated from Oak Hill High School. Michelle worked at Hemphill’s in Vassalboro, Maine for many years and later for Farm Bureau Insurance in Oklahoma. Michelle spoke often and fondly of her past coworkers.

Michelle was fearless on the back of a horse for her entire life. She was happiest when she was riding, whether it was working colts on the fence line or running barrels on one of the many horses she trained over the years. Michelle always had a knack for matching the perfect horse with the right rider. Later, when she met Jeff, they raised cattle together and she loved to drive through the fields and look over their herd. Michelle’s love for animals was reciprocated by every dog and horse she ever met. She will be deeply missed by her heeler, Huckleberry, who was by her side until the very end.

Michelle was devoted to her family and a loving mom. She married Jeff in 2016 and the couple blended their children into a large, loud group that loves to laugh together.

Michelle never met a challenge she wouldn’t face head on. She was honest, brave, and incredibly funny. She loved chocolate, holidays, Diet Pepsi, and country music turned up loud. Michelle left this world better than she found it and we were so thankful for the time we had to know and love her.

A memorial service will be held in Maine during the Summer of 2022 for Michelle’s family and friends in the New England area. Details about the memorial service will be posted on social media when they become available.
