CORNVILLE – Debra Dee (Tessier) Hawes, 68, passed away March 23, 2022 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. She was born March 22, 1954 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Edward H. and Pauline (Whitney) Tessier.

She attended Skowhegan Area High School and graduated in 1972. She continued her education at the University of Maine at Orono and Augusta and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. On Dec. 30, 1977, she married Harold “Stan” Hawes in Skowhegan.

Debra was employed at Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for over 20 years in obstetrics and as a nursing supervisor and touched so many lives before becoming disabled. When her girls were young, she was a Girl Scout Leader to them and many others. In her younger years, she and her family were known in Skowhegan for having gatherings at the Tessier household. She was loved by so many friends and family.

She loved motorcycles, horses, pegasus and computer games. She loved and looked forward to spending time with her family at their family camping every year. She had a passion for horses till her body would no longer allow for her to care for them but they never left her heart. She was such a loving caring person. She loved her animals as if they were her own children.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Harold “Stan” Hawes of Cornville; son, Benjamin Hawes and significant other Amy Coro of Cornville, daughters, Tanya Moore and significant other Jobi Culver of Norridgewock, Tiffany MacGregor and husband Shawn of Cornville; grandchildren, Austin Coro of Cornville, Kayla Moore, Dillon Moore, Lauryn Moore, Isabel Culver, Cooper Culver, Charley Culver all of Norridgewock; brother, Richard Tessier and wife Louise of Skowhegan, sisters-in-law, Joyce Tessier of Belmont, N.H., Leah Tessier of Skowhegan, Paula Bertone and husband Andrew of Davenport, Fla., Jennifer Hawes of Framingham, Mass., brother-in-law, Robert Hawes and wife Nancy of Midlothian, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Charles Tessier, Alan Tessier, and brother-in-law, Steven Hawes.

A graveside service and gathering will be held later this spring in her honor. This will be posted on social media when it is scheduled.
