Millicent May Foster

HALLOWELL – Millicent May Foster, 96, of Augusta passed away on March 21, 2022 after a long illness. Millie was born on April 15, 1925 to Thomas and Millicent Baddeley of Trenton, N.J. She graduated from Hamilton High School in Trenton in 1943.Millie met her future husband, Shirley N. Foster Jr. while volunteering for the USO during World War II at Fort Dix, N.J.They wed at the conclusion of the war and lived briefly in Chicopee and Teaticket, Mass. before settling in Augusta, Maine. They had three children, Sandra, Mark, and Kathyrn.Millie had a long career in the Insurance industry. Notably working for the Maine Banker’s Association followed by a long career at Union Mutual Insurance (later becoming UNUM).She enjoyed piano, rug hooking, volunteering in a leadership role at the Augusta Food Bank, and taught Sunday school and served on the Mission Committee at Green Street United Methodist Church.Millie was predeceased by husband Shirley; daughter Sandra; granddaughter Jody; and siblings Thomas Baddeley Jr and Marion South. She is survived by son Mark and his wife Catherine, daughter Kathyrn and her husband Jeff Tardiff, son-in-law Ken Vlodek; brother and sister-in-law Paul and Mary Foster; grandchildren Colleen, George, Lydia; and great-grandchildren Brooke, Colby, Kiara, Sean, and Finn. Also beloved nieces and nephews, Lynn Korus, Lisa Durnbaugh, Amy Beth Baddeley, Keith Baddeley, Daniel Foster, Diane Hastings, and Vicki Foster.The family requests that in lieu of flowers please donate to the Augusta Food Bank.There will be a private graveside service later in the spring at Kling Cemetery, Augusta.Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where memories, condolences and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at http://www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
