Barbara H. LeVasseur

FARMINGDALE – Mrs. Barbara H. LeVasseur, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at home. She is the loving wife of Ernest LeVasseur with whom she shared seven years of marriage. She was also the wife of the late Gerald Burgess Yeaton with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.

She was born Jan. 20, 1939, in Augusta, daughter of the late Curtis and Gladys (Gray) Hinkley. She and Ernest have resided in Farmingdale for the past seven years. Barbara previously resided in West Gardiner. She was a graduate of Cony High School Class of 1957 where she played in the Chizzle Whizzle variety show.

Barbara worked as a Switchboard Operator in the Telecommunications Department for the State of Maine for many years until her retirement.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with her family. She was a member of the Pine Tree Chapter 33 campground in Buckfield, where she loved spending time with Ernie and their many friends. She was also an accomplished and talented crafter. She liked to crochet, created oil paintings, painted her own greeting cards, and played the piano and keyboard. She certainly had an ear for music.

In addition to her loving husband Ernest, Barbara is survived by her two children Scott Yeaton and his wife Dee of West Gardiner, Tammy Deaton and her husband Ken of Whitefield; and her brother Edward Hinkley and his companion Kathy Cronkite Ricker of Bangor. She is also survived by her six cherished grandchildren Todd R. Yeaton, Amanda L. Yeaton, Patrick M. Yeaton, Derrick L. Dupont, Kristin J. Yeaton, Dylan J. Dupont; three beautiful great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her son Mark T. Yeaton; her brothers Curtis Hinkley, Jr. and Richard Hinkley; as well as her stepson Richard LeVasseur.

There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life and burial at a future date to be announced.
