Sheila May Tims

MANCHESTER – Sheila May Tims passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Comfort Care Unit of Glenridge Rehabilitation and Long Term Care in Augusta, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on March 25, 1952, in Augusta, Maine, to Laura and Roy Emerson of Whitefield, Maine. She was predeceased by her father, Roy Emerson, her mother and father-in-law Theresa and George Tims, sisters-in-law, Mercedes Tims and Jerri-Ann Tims, brothers-in-law, Richard, Robert, and Lawrence Tims and Lee McGuire Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years James Tims of Manchester; her mother Laura Emerson of Augusta; two sons, Kevin Tims and his wife Samantha of Whitefield, and Keith Tims of Westfield, New Jersey, her sister Lois Emerson of Farmingdale, and her grandchildren Alex and Kaitlyn Tims of Whitefield, her sisters-inlaw Linda McGuire of Manchester, Jeanne Barbeau of Augusta, Kerry Tims of Ocala, Florida, Cheryl Tims of Conway, South Carolina and brothers-in-law Norman Barbeau of Augusta, William Tims of Manchester and David Tims of Conway, South Carolina, as well as her lifelong friend JoAnn Ricker of Augusta, and many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind her three little furry friends who will miss her dearly – Jaxs, Dobie, and Nina. Shiela grew up in Somerville, Maine and later moved to

Whitefield, Maine. She graduated from Cony High School in Augusta; after graduation, she worked in the office at the following businesses, Lipman Poultry, Schoppe Ford, and NRF Distributors of Augusta. After leaving NRF Distributors, Sheila began her own cleaning business, as well as taking care of many elderly people in their homes and transporting them to their appointments and shopping expeditions. During this time, she met many special people who became her friends, especially Sherry Turcotte of West Gardiner and Jodi Clark of Gardiner. She enjoyed camping, especially in the Pemaquid area, and traveling with her family and friends and collecting porcelain dolls. Prior to being married, she enjoyed being a biker with many of her best friends. Sheila’s family wishes to extend their sincere thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Alfond Cancer Center, and especially to the nurses, caregivers, and Hospice individuals of the Comfort Care Unit of Glenridge Rehabilitation and Long Term Care for their compassionate care of Sheila while at the Comfort Care Unit. At Sheila’s request, there will be no funeral services’ however, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at St. Mary’s Church in Augusta at a later date. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, May 1, at the Manchester Lions Club at 1 p.m.
