Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh, a resident of Waterville since 1986, was honored by the city of Fresno, California, which proclaimed March 26 as “Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh Day.”
Fresno City Councilmember Esmeralda Soria presented Singh the award, according to a news release from Singh.

Singh was invited to give the keynote address for the Sikh Women’s Organization of Central California by Amandeep Kaur Matharu, president of the SWOCC board.
The proclamation gives her background along with her scholarly accomplishments that won her the award.
Singh is the chair of the Department & Crawford Family Professor Religious Studies at Colby College.
