Louisa M. Poulin

AUGUSTA – Louisa M. Poulin, 99, of Augusta, died on April 10, 2022, at Androscoggin Hospice House, Auburn. She was born in St. Prosper, Canada on Aug. 23, 1922, a daughter of Joseph and Lea (Poulin) Morin.At the age of 17, Louisa left home to go work in Quebec at Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac as a chambermaid. During the war, she worked in a gun factory outside of Quebec and was quickly promoted to supervisor. Louisa eventually decided to move to Maine and was married to Michel Poulin on Aug. 19, 1946. The two settled in Augusta and raised a family.Louisa was a beloved wife and mother to her family. She was the ultimate homemaker and enjoyed knitting, sewing, and was a excellent cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading a good book and completing jigsaw puzzles.She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society.Louisa was predeceased by her husband, Michel Poulin; her daughter, Nancy Breton; and siblings, Isabelle Bolly, Lionel Morin, Raoul Morin, Yvan Morin, J. Raoul Poulin, Lionette Morin, Julien Morin, and Estelle Morin.She is survived by her children, Lise Poulin of Augusta, and Claude Poulin of Coral Gable, Fla.; grandchildren, Jeff Breton, Carolyn Gustin, Thomas Poulin, Derek Poulin, and Joseph Poulin; brother-in-law, Yvan Poulin; sister-in-law Paula Daigle Poulin; great-grandchildren: Cody Poulin, Nathaniel Collins, Taylor Gustin, and Alex Gustin; as well as many nieces and nephews.There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday April 18, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 75 Northern Ave., Augusta.Interment will take place at Holy Family Cemetery.
