The Waterville Public Library’s 2022 Waterville Seed Library is scheduled to launch Friday, April 15.

This free public resource features 24 different varieties, including tomato, pumpkin, summer lettuce mix and green beans.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Friday, and while supplies last, orders for seeds can be placed via a form on the Waterville Seed Library website found at watervillelibrary.org or by calling the library at 207-872-5433.

To enhance the opportunity for others to access this resource, seed requests are limited to 10 packets or less per grower. Growers will be notified by email or phone when seed orders have been filled and are available for pick up at the public library.

In addition to offering free seeds to the community, the seed library organizers are offering seed growing information for all.

Also this month, the Local Voices Storytelling Series will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesdays starting April 19 on Waterville Public Library Facebook.

Virtual Homeschool Hub Session (via Zoom): “What is a Seed Library” will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14. Colby Student Kai Goode will explain how the seed library works. People can join in virtually while a biodegradable newspaper planter is made for a basil plant.

Registration is required. This will be a live event and will not be recorded. The Zoom link will be provided after registration is received. The session is free. To register, visit watervillelibrary.org.
