Thomas William Wardrop

CATONSVILLE, Md. – Thomas William Wardrop, 77, passed away from Parkinson’s Disease on Sunday, March 27, 2022. Tom was born on Jan. 18, 1945, in Skowhegan, to Frederick Wardrop and Shirley (Boyd) Wardrop. He grew up in Massachusetts with his brother Richard Wardrop (Milford, Mass.) spending summers in Skowhegan at the Boyd family home on Bloomfield Street.

Tom and his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Duncan Wardrop (Catonsville, Md.), moved to Pittsfield in 1973 with their two daughters, Jennifer Ann Wardrop (Catonsville, Md.) and Elizabeth Wardrop Qualman (Edwards, Colo.). In 1976, their third daughter Meredith Alice (Wardrop) D’Ambrisi (Clifton, Va.) was born in Waterville. Tom and Kathy cherished their close-knit neighborhood including Tom’s first cousin, Ann (Hastings) McGowan, her husband Bernard “Barney” McGowan, and their five children.

Tom built an executive career in Maine’s construction industry. He also served the Pittsfield community as president of the Kiwanis Club, chairman of the Planning Board, and safety director of the Pinnacle Ski Slope. He was a beloved husband and father, and a builder and developer in all aspects of life – family, profession, community, and vintage collections.
