WINTHROP –The Bailey Library, at 39 Main St., plans to celebrate poetry month with Poets in the Library at noon Saturday, April 30.
The event focuses on the recently self-published chapbook “A Simple Abundance” that features over a dozen local poets.
The poets featured in the chapbook will read from their work in the King Event Room on the first floor of the library; an open-mic session will follow.
The event and chapbook were organized by Claire Hersom, whose work has appeared in Yankee Magazine, and in 2011 was awarded an Emerging Artist Grant in Literature from the St. Botolph Club Foundation of Boston. Her poem “Norman Lee” was awarded first place by the Maine Poets Society as Best Poem about Maine in 2007.
The program is free and wheelchair accessible.
