Imagine “His Girl Friday” meets “The Carol Burnett Show” and you’ve got “Screwball Comedy,” a fast-paced, hilarious nod to the Hollywood comedies of the ’30s and ’40s playing at The Public Theatre from April 29 through May 8. Featuring Jessica DiGiovanni as reporter Mary Hayes and Mike Anthony as Star-Reporter Jeff Kincaid, “Screwball Comedy” is filled with zany characters and snappy banter reminiscent of the movies of Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday; and a matinee at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7. Tickets are $25 Adult; $22 Group (10+); $20 Student (19+ with ID); and $10 Youth (4-18). For anyone unable to attend in-person, a Video-On-Demand ticket will be available May 3 through May 8 to watch a recording of a live performance for $25 Single (one person); or $50 Household (2+ people). The Public Theatre is located at 31 Maple St., Lewiston. For tickets or more information, call 207-782-3200 or visit thepublictheatre.org.
