How are you using your $850 state refund check?

Hundreds of thousands of eligible Maine taxpayers have started receiving $850 refunds from the state government. The checks — totaling some $730 million in all — were approved by lawmakers as a way to use one-time surplus funds to help 858,000 taxpayers cope with inflation.

Mainers can check the progress of their refund checks online.

As inflation rises, gas prices soar above $5 a gallon and costs for many other good and services spike, there’s no shortage of ways taxpayers might choose to spend the cash. Others might choose to pay off credit card bills or other debt, or save the money for a rainy day.

But what about you? If you’re receiving a refund check, how do you plan to use it? Let us know in the poll and comments below.
