HINCKLEY — L.C. Bates Museum at 14 Easler Road plans to offer the following May programs, including wildflower and pond activities that explore the local environment and its inhabitants, according to a news release from the museum.
Outdoor events are weather dependent.
• Saturday May 7, 10 a.m.: May is National Flower Month, and people can walk the museum’s trails, do a coloring page of one of Maine’s native flowers and make a foam hummingbird flower feeder.
• Saturday, May 7, 5 p.m.: Virtual opening of the summer art exhibit.
• Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. Earth and space activities exploration; people can try NISE (National Informal Stem Education) kits.
• Saturday May 21, 10 a.m.: Bird kit activities; children can explore a bird kit and make a small hummingbird feeder to take home.
• Saturday May 28, 10 a.m.: Pond explorations and frog celebrations; participants can explore the pond with nets in hand.
Museum volunteers are important for cataloging collections and providing activities to visitors. Those who have time to support the museum work are encouraged to call.
