Mary-Ellen Engert

BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Mary-Ellen Engert, 76, of Boothbay Harbor, passed away May 1, 2022 at LincolnHealth – Miles Campus in Damariscotta.

Mary-Ellen was born July 30, 1945 in Augusta to Robert S. Sayward and Mary Ellen (Benner) Sayward.

She grew up on the family dairy farm in Burnham and had many fond childhood memories there. She graduated from Cony High School in the class of 1963. She married her husband, Bruce Engert, on Jan. 21, 1967, and they were married for 55 years. The couple moved to Portland shortly after the wedding and lived there for a few years before buying their first home and moving to Scarborough. In 1985 they moved to Boothbay where they made their home until her passing.

Mary-Ellen was employed in banking, jewelry sales, shoe sales, and also the Internal Revenue Service. She made many friends along the way.

She loved traveling around the world, camping, boating, the beach and spending time in Greenville. And she especially loved her family.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Mary-Ellen is survived by her husband, Bruce Engert of Boothbay Harbor; her son, Bruce I. Engert of Boothbay Harbor; and her cousin, Jane.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday May 9 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Al Roberts officiating. A celebration of life will held this summer and a date will announced for that.
