Florence Evangeline Gorman

ANSON – Florence Evangeline Gorman 81, of Anson, passed away on April 21, 2022 at home with loved ones by her side after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was born on Oct. 19, 1940 in Anson to Joseph J. “Jerry” Thebarge and Leana G. Caron

Mom attended schools in Anson, graduated from Madison Memorial High School in 1959. She married the love of her life, William J. Gorman Sr. on June 24, 1961. They shared 60 lovable eventful years of marriage together.

She worked at the shoe factory, stick company in Madison in her younger years, later she was employed at various banking institutions as a teller and in the payroll dept.

Florence supported her husband in his ministry “Jubilee Revivals”, as treasurer. Mom exceled at being a pastor’s wife. They worshiped the gospel all over the world, which provided many stories and adventures for the both of them and their family.

She loved her family with open arms, especially having the ability to listen, giving you advice when needed. She grew up in a musical family and had a love of gospel music singing, playing the organ, tambourine, crocheting afghan blankets for family, jigsaw puzzles, cheering on the Patriots football team, mom’s enthusiasm made the game extra exciting. Going to family gatherings, road trips, birdwatching especially the cardinal and hummingbirds. She loved being outside with nature, She loved to go walking, she had a lifetime of “picking your feet up putting them down”, even in her declining health it was hard on her to stop!

In her younger years she was very athletic which came in very handy in the “physical aspect” of raising a family of all boys. She might of been petite in stature BUT DON’T let that fool you, she was able to take us down with some good old fashion roughhousing. She could shoot that 410 shot gun when needed. She came from a loving family of 12 siblings and she had a significant attachment to her oldest sister, Eva C. Thebarge.

Florence was predeceased by her parents; husband; and granddaughter, Anastasia B. Gorman

She is survived by her children William of Anson, Jerry and wife Annette of West Gardiner, John and wife Marie of Augusta, and Gary of Norridgewock; grandchildren MSG William J. Gorman and wife Andrea of U.S.A, Christopher Gorman and wife Beth of Waterville, Ericka Hatch and husband Leo of Augusta, Deanna Gorman of Skowhegan, Breanna, Shannon, and Brandon; great-grandchildren Christopher Jr., Lily, Abigail Siblings Ernie, Edmund, Edwin, Evangeline “Beanie” Richardson; nieces and nephews
