Bernadette Paradis

AUGUSTA – Bernadette Paradis, 91, died peacefully at the Maine Veteran’s Home in Augusta, on May 6, 2022, after enduring unbearable spinal pain since 2019.

The family would like to express a special “thank you” to nurses Kaila, Jen, Kathy and James; Chef David; and the remarkable staff of Freedom Bay Delta at the Veteran’s Home for the outstanding care they provided.

Bernadette was born in Hartford, Conn. on May 18, 1930; daughter of Lionel and Felexine (Drouin) Tardiff. As a child, she lived in Hartford, Conn., and Waterville, South Portland and Augusta. In 1946, she married Willie J. Paradis. They built a home together in North Augusta, where they raised two sons, Richard and Bill.

Bernadette worked at White Cloud Laundry before working 40 years at the paper mill in Augusta.

Her home and pool were always open to anyone, especially on holidays. She was the best hostess and loved to take care of everyone. She would always go out of her way to help anyone in need.

As a devoted communicant of St. Michael Parish, skipping church was not an option for Bernadette. She loved to attend Mass and was very strong in her Catholic faith.

She is survived by her son, Richard and wife Sally, son, Bill and fiancée Amanda Peters; sister, Theresa Jolin and husband Louis of Manchester, N.H., sister, Jeannette Morrissette of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandson, Richard Paradis Jr. and fiancée Lisa Maguire, granddaughter, Renee Black and husband Jason, granddaughter, Ashley Vallee and husband Thomas Jay “TJ”, granddaughter, Stephanie Paradis and grandson, Bradley Paradis; great-grandchildren Christopher Paradis, Joshua Swindells, Ricky E. Paradis, Jetson Black, Thomas Barrett Vallee; great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Paradis; and several nieces and nephews.

Bernadette was predeceased by her parents; husband, Willie; siblings Lorette Joseph, Lucille Bradford, Raymond Tardiff; and granddaughter, Janel Paradis.
