Frederick “Rick” George Glidden

GARDINER – Frederick “Rick” George Glidden, 62, of Gardiner, died unexpectedly, Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Gardiner on Oct. 21, 1959, the son of Frederick and Darlyne (Lancaster) Glidden. Rick loved fishing, off roading, and had a great love for working on cars. He and his son, Travis shared many days and nights working on cars together. He could always be found hanging out with the guys having a few cold ones or watching the race every Sunday. Rick was a kid at heart and was quick to crack a good joke and loved to play and joke around.Rick also had a great love for paving and spent most of his life doing just that, he worked for Blue Rock Construction, Williams Construction and Ferraiolo Construction until he became physically disabled in 2007. Rick loved all his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.Rick was predeceased by his father, Frederick Glidden; and brother Ronald Glidden. Rick is survived by his mother, Darlyne Glidden; his brothers and sisters Edwin Glidden and wife Elizabeth, of Winthrop, Dawn Gray and husband Mike, Dorothy Smiley and husband John, Alisha Keene and husband Donnie, Shaun Glidden; his children Jason Blake and wife Nikki, of Edgecomb, Tasha Glidden of Florida, and Travis Glidden of Farmingdale; his grandkids Zander, Mayson, Knowlyn, Alyson, Aleah, Lillyona, Vanessa, McKenzie and Gemma; along with many aunts, uncles; nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; the love of his life, Ruth Bickford. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. A private family burial take place at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted with Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner.
