Bernard Hart

MADISON – Bernard Hart, 96, of Madison, passed away April 29, 2022, at Woodlands Memory Care of Madison, where he was kindly cared for during the last 9 months of his life. He was always gracious and appreciative, and kept his sense of humor to the end.Bernard was born in Hartland on June 22, 1925 to Fred and Inez (Deering) Hart, as the eighth of their nine children. He grew up in Hartland and graduated from Hartland academy in 1943, after studying agriculture and carpentry. He worked many years doing hand-sewing in shoe shops, also many years as a supervisor. He also worked for years at farming, carpentry, and wood cutting. Bernard loved to read and study the Bible, and sharing what he learned with others. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1976, and served as a congregation elder for more than 20 years. He was loved by all in the congregation. Bernard is survived by two daughters, four stepsons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Bernard lost two infant sons, John Allen and Errol James. He was also pre-deceased by his parents and all eight of his siblings. In 2008, he lost his wife Virginia, after 41 years of marriage.A memorial service will be held at a later date.
