NORRIDGEWOCK – Cheryl Ann (Williamson) Burke, 75, passed away April 23, 2022, at her home in Norridgewock with Diane by her side. She was born August 30, 1946 in Skowhegan, the daughter of Ernold and Maxine (Yeaton) Williamson.She was always a very independent woman. She left home at the age of 18 to join the Navy. She married in 1968 and had her pride and joy, Sean William Burke in 1969. They traveled throughout the US and lived in Africa for a few years.Cheryl worked different jobs in Virginia and California. She applied for a job with the department of the Navy and she and Sean moved to Norfolk, Virginia where they started their adventure. Cheryl made many long-time friends in her travels. She retired in 2006 and came home to help take care of her mother.She loved all kinds of animals, even skunks that would come up on her deck. She would talk to them very softly and would feed any kind of Maine Animal you could think of and spared no expense feeding them. She loved nature, enjoyed walking through the woods on the farm, and in the fields looking for different plants and wildflowers. She knew them all.Cheryl was a woman with very strong conviction and always stood very firm in her beliefs. She was an avid reader and had many, many books. She delighted in looking in her bird book to identify the different birds that came to her feeders.She is survived by her brothers, Lynn and wife Carol of Norridgewock, and Eric of Norridgewock; nephews, Shane and partner Cathy of Skowhegan, Jonathan and wife Bridget of Norridgewock; along with great nieces and nephews; her close cousin and caregiver, Diane (Williamson) Goodell. She was predeceased by her father, Ernold; mother, Maxine; and beloved son, Sean.A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 11 a.m., at the Williamson Cemetery, on Childs Road, Norridgewock, followed by a gathering at Lynn and Carol Williamson’s on Childs Road, Norridgewock.Arrangements under the direction and care of Dan & Scott’s Cremation & Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan ME 04976. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations in Cheryl’s memory to the Somerset Humane Society PO Box 453, Skowhegan ME 04976 or MaineGeneral Hospice, PO Box 828, Waterville ME 04901.
