ETNA – Joseph Arthur Quintal, 62, joined his family in heaven May 5, 2022 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born March 18, 1960 in Damariscotta, a son of Philip and Rebecca (Edwards) Quintal. He graduated from Lincoln Academy in Damariscotta, served in the Army 101st Airborne Division and was also a chaplain’s assistant.

Joe graduated from oil burner tech school, then owned and operated Quintal Heating Service retiring in 2021. Joe was an avid hunter, fisherman and Red Sox fan. He will be remembered as a hard worker that was talented in his field. He also enjoyed gardening and was known for being “set in his ways”.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Virginia; a son, Aaron, a daughter, Amber; four brothers, Louis, David, Anthony, and Matthew, five sisters, Joyce, Arlene, Yvonne, Yvette, and Lisa; four grandchildren, Lilly, Nicolase, Shylah and Leland.

He was predeceased by a sister, Debra and a brother, Philip, Jr.

A military graveside committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
