Brooke McKenney of Madison, a senior at Madison Area Memorial High School, has received the 2022 Principal’s Award, according to a news release from Principal Christopher LeBlanc.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.

“Brooke is an exceptional student who carries a GPA of 98.8 which has solidified her spot as salutatorian for the Class of 2022. In her time at Madison High School she has excelled in dual enrollment classes maintaining straight As and is an active member of the National Honor Society,” said LeBlanc.

Upon graduation, McKenney plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College to study radiology and then further her education at the Maine College of Health Professionals to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree. In addition to her high achieving academic career, she is also an outstanding athlete who has participated in soccer, basketball and softball, according to LeBlanc.

A four-year varsity award recipient in the softball program, Brooke has received multiple awards and accolades throughout the state.

McKenney, LeBlanc and other award winners and their principals participated in a Live Virtual Scholarship Drawing Event on April 1. Ten $1,000 scholarships were drawn in the names of former Maine principals and MPA Executive Directors: Horace O. McGowan, Richard W. Tyler, and Richard A. Durost.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
