Lynn J. Farnham

BELGRADE – Lynn J. Farnham, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home in Belgrade. Her health had been steadily declining, but her zest for life never diminished. She was 71 years old.

Lynn was born in Waterville on Dec. 31, 1950, the daughter of Frank Farnham and Claudia (Howard) Farnham of Belgrade. Lynn attended the S.A.D. #47 school system and graduated from Williams High School in Oakland, class of 1969. While attending High School she worked as a clerk at Farnham’s Market in Belgrade, during the summers.

Lynn continued her education at the Concord School of Nursing in Concord, N.H. One aspect she enjoyed most were the clinical practice hours of her education. During this time, she spent three-month at the Boston Children’s Hospital. In particular, she enjoyed taking care of and holding the babies. Lynn graduated from the Concord School of Nursing in 1972.

After nursing school Lynn got her first job at the Waterville Osteopathic Hospital in Waterville. She would go on to work in several different capacities from 1972 – 1986. The last position that Lynn held was as the Clinical Coordinator (Head Nurse) of the Surgical Floor. During her time at Waterville Osteo, she met several nurses that became some of her closest friends. Lynn had a passion for cooking and would often host dinner parties for her co-workers and friends. The friendships that were formed lasted her a lifetime.

Lynn showed her adventurous side from 1986 through 1988 when she moved cross country. She worked as a Charge Nurse of Station 71, at Peninsula Hospital Medical Center in Burlingame, Calif. It was during this time she began her affinity of the San Francisco 49ers. Her family back home was a little worried that she had forgotten about the New England Patriots. Their worries were soon forgotten when the “Brady Era” started. There were several players she liked, but she loved Tom Brady!

When Lynn returned home, she worked in management at the Kennebec Valley Medical Center. Lynn’s final career move happened when she gained employment at the Department of Human Services in Augusta. Lynn was the Nurse Education Consultant for the Division of Licensing & Certification. Over the years, Lynn held herself and her work to the highest standards. She was well respected and enjoyed her time working with others in the medical field. Lynn enjoyed many aspects of her life. They are as follows but are not in any particular order. Her parents, the color blue, watching TV (sports), fried chicken, ordering out of a catalog, friends, bacon, extravagant vacations, Christmas, nursing, family, cinnamon rolls, her cats (Alexander, Montana, Smokey and Chiffon), her fireplace, sitting on the back deck overlooking the field, feeding the birds and squirrels, wind spinners, red roses, reading books, laughter (hers will be missed), potted flowers (pansies), staying up late and her home.

Lynn is survived by her sister, Dawn Farnham, of Madison, N.H., her brother, Duane Farnham of Belgrade; her uncle Juss Sturtevant of Mansfield, Mass.; her niece, Rebecca Loehr of Wilmington Island, Ga., her nephew and his wife, Steve and Tracy Farnham of Winslow; and her great nieces and nephews, Amber and her son Austin, Matthew and his wife April, Grace, Emma, Belen and Frank.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life on a date that is yet to be determined. The Farnham Family would like to express their gratitude to the members of the Belgrade Rescue for their dedicated and compassionate service.
