WINTHROP — Shortstop Maddie Perkins drove in two runs with a triple in the third inning, then gunned down the potential tying run in the top of the seventh to preserve Winthrop’s 4-3 win over Lisbon in softball action Friday.

Lisbon (5-10) cut the deficit to 4-3 with one run in the top of the seventh, but Winthrop (8-7) center fielder Ella Rice fielded a hit and threw the ball to Perkins, who then fired it to catcher Lydia Rice in time to get the third out at home plate and end the game.

Perkins also had a single for the Ramblers, and Rice smacked a double. Lauryn Wood earned the win, scattering seven hits.

Sophie Malloy and Marina Davis each notched two singles for the Greyhounds, and Erica Hill allowed six hits in the circle.

 

BRUNSWICK 5, SKOWHEGAN 0: Ellie Sullivan pitched a one-hitter with no walks and six strikeouts, and the Dragons (14-1) scored their five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Skowhegan (13-2) at Brunswick.

Entering the sixth, Sullivan and Sierra Carey of Skowhegan had dueling no-hitters. But three walks – two intentional after the leadoff hitter reached third on a two-base sacrifice – set the stage for Sophia Morin’s two-run single. Riley McAllister added a two-run single.

Sullivan lost her no-hitter on Riley Fitzpatrick’s double in the seventh.

 

MADISON 9, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Brooke McKenney tossed a no-hitter, striking out 13 batters to lead the Bulldogs to a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Mustangs in Madison.

Hailey Paquet and Landyn Landry each had two hits for Madison (14-1).

Brooklyn Federic struck out seven batters for Monmouth (11-3).

MESSALONSKEE 11, CAMDEN HILLS 0: Morgan Wills pitched a one-hitter to lead the Eagles to the win in Oakland.

Jordan Lambert and Maddi Wilson each had two doubles for Messalonskee (4-11) while Elise McDonald added three singles. Kyra Cummings and Wilson also had two RBIs each.

Camden Hills falls to 3-10.

 

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 6, MT. ABRAM 4: Brooke Bennett scored twice and had a two-run single in the fifth inning to help trigger four runs in the Falcons’ (7-8) victory over the Roadrunners (4-9) in Rumford.

Emma Clukey and Madisyn McLean each had a double. Autumn Freeman belted an RBI double. Ali Mazza collected two hits with an RBI. Ali Legere got the win in the circle for Mountain Valley.

For Mt.Abram, AbigailWilcox, Olivia Roderick and Isabell Norster each hammer out two hits. Losing pitcher Adrianna Stinchfield was credited with 12 strikeouts.

 

DIRIGO 6, CARRABEC 2: Hannah Hamner collected three hits and drove in a run and winning pitcher Grace Robbins struck out seven batters gave up four hits in the Cougars’ (9-6) win over the Cobras (2-13) in North Anson.

Dirigo put the game out of Carrabec’s reach with three runs in the seventh inning.

Alyvia Perreault doubled and singled for the Cougars and catcher Kallie Errington tripled and singled.

BASEBALL

 

MORSE 14, GARDINER 0: Calin Gould allowed only three hits, and the Shipbuilders (6-9) scored five runs in the first inning and nine in the third to earn a five-inning win in Gardiner.

Gavin Baillargeon tripled and drove in three runs for Morse (6-9) while Gabe Morrison had two hits and two RBI.

Chase Kelly got two of Gardiner’s (2-13) three hits.

CONY 12, WINSLOW 0, 5 INNINGS: Kam Douin pitched a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Rams to a win over the Black Raiders in Winslow.

Brayden Barbeau had three hits and three RBIs, while Landon Foster and Sam Flannery each added two hits for Cony (12-3).

Winslow falls to 3-9.

 

MT. ABRAM 12, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Pitcher Adam Luce, Wyatt Siemensk, Kayden Pillsbury, Cam Grey combined to throw a two-hit shutout with the support of an 11-hit attack in the Roadrunners’ win in Rumford.

Tucker Plouffe, Simeneski and Bear Rollins were Mt Abram’s (12-2) repeat hitters.

Zach New and Jakob LaPointe had hits for the Falcons (2-13).

LINCOLN 18, WINSLOW 8: Mariam DeLisle recorded seven goals for the Eagles in a win in Newcastle.

Marley LeBel added five goals and three assists for Lincoln (8-4) while Skyler Houghton and Abby Kopp chipped in with two goals apiece, and Lucy Fowler and Marguerita Fairfield also scored.

Sage Clukey tallied four goals for Winslow (3-8).

 

LINCOLN ACADEMY 18, WINSLOW 8: Mariam DeLisle recorded seven goals for the Eagles (8-4) in a win over the Black Raiders (3-8) at Newcastle.

Marley LeBel added five goals and three assists. Skyler Houghton and Abby Kopp chipped in with two goals apiece, and Lucy Fowler and Marguerita Fairfield also scored.

Sage Clukey tallied four goals for Winslow.
