AUGUSTA – Marie Laurette Constance “Connie” (Pare) Rowe, 86, of Augusta, passed peacefully, surrounded by love and compassionate care as she made her journey home to the Lord on May 22, 2022, following a brief battle with cancer.

Connie was born on August 12,1935 in Augusta, to Albenie Pare and Lauretta (Lessard) Pare, the next to youngest of twenty-four children. She grew up in Augusta and married Harold B. Jones, Jr. and years after his untimely passing in 1972, she married Charles W. Rowe in 1976. She was a member of the St. Augustine Church in Augusta.

She worked at HealthTex, Hazzard Shoe and retired in 1999 from the State of Maine, Maine State Archives in the maintenance department after 22 years of service. She also cared for many of her family members over the years.

Connie was funny, feisty, and extremely stubborn (and proud of it and her French heritage) and always made people laugh and made friends wherever she went. She loved going out to eat, especially to Bolley’s for kielbasa and iced coffee. She also enjoyed shopping, lawn sales, spending time with family and the family pets. She loved to play rummy and bingo and loved winning!

We thank the staff at Arbor Terrace in Gardiner and at The Inn at City Hall in Augusta where she spent her last years. She considered both places “home” and had “pet” names, many sayings and French words for many of the staff she loved. Also thank Androscoggin Health & Hospice for their three months of exceptional care they provided Connie.

Connie was predeceased by her parents; both husbands; six brothers and 17 sisters; her stepdaughter Roberta Jamison, and stepson Glendon Ellis, Sr.; and her many beloved pets. She is survived by many nieces, nephews; cousins; great nieces and great nephews; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a favorite great, great-grandson; and her granddaughter Charlene Rackliff who provided the care and coordination of care that Connie needed the past five years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 5 – 6 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant Street, Augusta, followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Committal service will be in the Committal Shelter at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10 a.m.
