BINGHAM — Upper Kennebec Valley Jr./Sr. High School has announced its class of 2022 valedictorian and salutatorian.

Kendra Godbout, valedictorian, is a student whose academic excellence is matched by her incredible artistic talents and abilities, according to a news release from the school. She recently designed sections of this year’s yearbook as well as the cover of the graduation program.

She recently secured the SkillsUSA Maine State Competition third place in photography and will be attending the national competition for photography in June in Atlanta, Georgia.

Godbout is participating in the Somerset Career and Technical Center’s Digital Graphic Arts program, where she has consistently achieved Program Leader status. She has a grade point average of 96.99. She has also been a member of the school’s National Honor Society Chapter for two years.

She plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College in the fall to major in digital graphics. She is the daughter of Melanie Caswell and Ryan Godbout of Bingham.

Emily Collins, salutatorian, has a grade point average of 95.65. She has committed herself to investigating a career in elementary education by working with the elementary school as an intern.

She is an active participant in school sports programs, including engaging in basketball, softball, golf, and soccer teams.

Collins consistently participated in the school’s government, at one time presiding as the class president. She organized fundraising events and spearheaded school blood drives.

She also has been a member of the school’s National Honor Society Chapter for two years. She received varsity letters in golf, basketball, and softball.

Collins plans to attend Thomas College to major in elementary education. She is the daughter of Mary and Scott Collins of Moscow.
